Day09: Kurayoshi – Tottori – Kyotango

Wow. Just wow.

I guess it’s all about the weather. Today’s weather was great. There were plenty of challenges, but all seems to be ok as long as sun is shining.

I departed at 8AM and was greeted with a few drops of rain, which made me really ancxious. Fortunately it passed quickly and after that the whole day was sunny/cloudy.

I started in Tottori prefecture, went through the coastline of Hyogo prefecture and ended the ride in Kyoto prefecture. Looking at the ride from that perspective makes it seem like a really long distance.

Most of the day was coastline. The scenery reminded me of Izu peninsula and the scenery around Kagoshima.

Just breathtaking views all day long.

Tottori did not disappoint. #AcrossJapan2017

For the first time today I thought “Why am I doing this” and then I saw the views.

Cannot get enough of this ocean view. #AcrossJapan2017

The beautiful scenery did take its toll, as it was relentless up/down where I would climb up 5 mins and come down 2 mins, just to repeat.

No away round it. Mountains for lunch. #AcrossJapan2017

Fortunately the last part was mostly flat so I could just TT it.

Arrived to my Ryokan at 4:30 and went straight for the bath. There they had a poster of a Facebook campaign, which gave me free beer. Win.

Overall today m bum and legs felt better than yesterday, and tomorrow is about 145km flat-ish terrain so I will just sleep early and recover today.
